Job Description
The employee will serve as a Mobile Equipment Servicer for the Facilities Management Service at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, in Ann Arbor, MI under the supervision of the Grounds and Transportation Supervisor. The position has the primary duties of servicing automotive and mobile equipment. Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements: Related Experience: servicing automotive and mobile equipment such as automobiles, trucks, buses, forklifts, skid steers, RTV's and back hoes; dispensing fuel, checking fluid levels and tire pressure, inflating tires, washing equipment, changing lubricants, installing accessory items and changing and repairing tires. And Possessing a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Air Brakes. Physical Effort: The work requires good coordination as well as manual dexterity. Physical effort is required in making repairs. The employee is required to bend, stoop, crawl, walk, climb and lift heavy objects up to fifty pounds. The employee frequently work on top of equipment at heights up to eighteen feet above the ground and underneath vehicles. The employee must work in awkward positions when performing work in lube pits or under car racks. Working Conditions: The work is performed inside or outside of the facility where the employee is subject to all kinds of weather conditions. The employee is exposed to dirty, oily and a greasy work environment. The employee may be required to handle cans and drums of petroleum products or industrial cleaners. The employee will utilize authorized safety equipment when dealing with potential problems that may consist of carbon monoxide, scalds, electrical shock, gas, propane or chemical fumes. The employee is subject to cuts, bruises and burns. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. For this position, the job element method is used to match what you, the applicant, can do against what the work calls for. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element (WG-2 and higher only; screen-outs are not applicable to WG-1). The potential eligibles are rated against the remainder of the job elements. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
