About the Position: This position provides emergency response dispatching of law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services to the public by answering emergency calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment. The work is performed in a highly stressful restricted office environment. Specialized Experience GS-05: One year of specialized experience which includes using a computer keyboard to operate a variety of computer software, receiving calls for services, and creating clerical reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-6: One year of specialized experience which includes experience receiving and evaluating emergency or non-emergency related calls; and determining problem or nature of call to inform appropriate personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes receiving and evaluating emergency calls; determining problem or nature of call in order to dispatch appropriate emergency personnel and equipment or respond to an emergency; and/or providing basic instructions prior to arrival. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). No Time in Grade Requirement for GS-05. Time in Grade Requirement GS-06: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Time in Grade Requirement GS-07: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
