SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1194000, within the ((ALL) FMS-CSMS-UTES SHOPS)) of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position.. The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, inspection, and/or overhaul of a variety of combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment. Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, preventative maintenance, use of common tools, and equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 12 months of specialized experience or training in the following areas: Diagnosing, repairing, and modifying complex vehicles Removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories Knowledge of diagnostic equipment Demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships Solving complex maintenance and repair problems Evaluating work performed on vehicles, equipment, and systems
